Seed grants are now open for 2020.
In line with Al Jalila Foundation strategic goal to support the brightest researchers, our seed grants give researchers the opportunity to address important questions about health and disease in the UAE.
To proactively respond to the current local and global challenge of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and to help the UAE develop the capacity to proactively address this pandemic and other viral diseases in the future, Al Jalila Foundation is inviting applications to conduct 1-2 year research relevant to the UAE on COVID-19 virus.
Potential areas of research include: the pathology, diagnostics, epidemiology, transmission, therapeutics, and/or prevention related to COVID-19 virus in the UAE. For example, the impact of humidity and heat on the effect and complications of COVID-19 virus, the impact of COVID-19 virus on the UAE and how the UAE has dealt with it, etc.
The seed grants provide up to AED 500,000 to support basic, translational, or clinical research projects. Grants are available to UAE Nationals and residents of the UAE provided the research is conducted in the UAE. Applicants should hold positions at universities, research or clinical institutions in the UAE.
Please note that Al Jalila Foundation currently does not support research that requires clinical trials.
The closing date for the submission of applications is 9 June 2020. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of the application by September 2020.
